I am not sure about the 1-2M skill for starting accounts. Most of the barrier to entry is dogma and people thinking their corp is all leet and stuff.
If everyone starts with 2M skills points the "well you need at least X points" just gets moved up the extra 2M points. Corps that have been happy to train newbros have done well and show that you don't need at least X points + Ishtars lvl 5 to play well.
So i think this just keeps pushing the "your new and there is nothing interesting you can do against the bittervets" line. And I really think this line is wrong for eve and that is the culture that need to be addressed more than anything.

You do not need advance weapon upgrades to fit ships properly. You need AWU lvl 3-5 for some high skilled tight fits, that a rookie won't be able to fly anyway. Well not well, unless you need just another null blob that needs more f1 monkeys.
One of the things i enjoyed doing was turning these "master fits" into cheaper and often almost as good fits for my skills. Places like bombers bar and Spectre have a ranges of fits for bombers for the lower skilled pilot, and yet your only looking at a 10% DPS nurf or so compared to the L33T fits.
That is the problem... The dogma that unless your ships does at least 500DPS/100kEHP sort of thing you shouldn't fly. That is just stupid. How often is 10kEHP really going to matter in a fleet? And even solo, the point is you... YOU. You deal with the imperfections of the character. Low SP pilots can and do do well, when they just get out there and get it done.
bonus skill points won't change other players DOGMA.

Yea but i don't play other MMOs because there is no danger period. I get to keep all my stuff mostly. Losing, combat has no meaning.
The point, the thrill of PvP is that you do have to put it all on the line, and potentially lose it all. Reduce this cost, and well it becomes Meh...

Yuvak Ogeko wrote:I don't know what all has passed through this thread already, but after rolling a new alt and playing it exclusively this week, I have to say the jump from finishing career agents with ~100k sp to doing something else is god awful and that feeling of being completely without things to do just lingers on for weeks until you have a couple key-ring skills to level 3 or 4 that start unlocking the skills you actually want. 1m sp would go a really long way to solving this problem. I hope CCP pushes this out sooner rather than later. But the key things now become when you unlock 2M sp.. so noobs need that....
Well now its 3M sp. etc.
I was doing useful things with my last alt after 3 Hours! i even got my first PVP kill. Just because you don't want to undock in anything less than a gila or something does not make it mandatory skills.

Incursion runners generate a lot of LP as do faction warfare ppl. It is not just mission runners. But yea implants are popular for LP to isk conversion. For SoE LP often it is not implants for example.

If they got rid of attributes and we all trained at the same "max speed", i don't think slave sets would get cheaper really. We don't use crystal sets etc for their training bonus, well at least a lot of people don't. We have a +5 pod for that.
Ok so now in a WH I just run +4 training only most of the time, and use links and drugs for boosts. It is such a pain if you have a fit that needs the correct pod to work in a WH. No one can use it, including yourself, most of the time.
